La ceramica non è considerata un materiale resistente, ma potrebbe diventarlo presto grazie alla sperimentazione in partenza nei prossimi giorni a Montelupo. L'idea arriva da Ceramiche Virginia, azienda vocata all'hand made del distretto della ceramica di Montelupo e aderente alle Strade della Ceramica...

In pentola bolle «NanoValcer», progetto il cui obiettivo è affiancare alle tradizionali metodologie di produzione ceramica nuove tecniche di funzionalizzazione dei materiali proprie delle nanotecnologie.
L'utilizzo di materie prime locali e il vincolo storico alle metodiche artigianali di preparazione, stanno causando grosse difficoltà alle imprese toscane di ceramiche artistiche. La produzione tradizionale è basata su argille calcareo/ferruginose, con semila-vorati di porosita intorno al 15%.

Ciò riduce durezza e resistenza agli urti e agli sbalzi termici del prodotto finale, che risulta di qualita inferiore rispetto alle produzioni estere «Per colmare questa lacuna — spiega Mirko Pucci delle Ceramiche Virginia, sede a Montespertoli e magazzino a Montelupo — mettendo a frutto le conoscenze acquisite con un'iniziativa di giovani ricercatori dell'Universita di Firenze e del Consorzio INSTM e finanziata dalla Regione Toscana con POR -FESR 2014-2020, abbiamo sviluppato un'idea progettuale che ci ha portato ad ottenere un finanziamento regionale di circa 60mila euro per la realizzazione di un nuovo processo produttivo per innovativi manufatti ceramici».

Il segreto? L'introduzione di nanomateriali nella maiolica montelupina. «Partiremo a breve con una sperimentazione della produzione di questi manufatti con il supporto di INSTM con l'obiettivo di abbassare la porosita della maiolica al 3%, in modo da proporre al mercato intemazionale un prodotto che mantenga l'eccellenza artistica toscana raggiungendo le caratteristiche tecniche richieste da mercati finora inaccessibili, come quello della ristorazione di alta fascia.
Si stima che l'innovazione possa permettere un incremento del 20-30% dei volumi produttivi.
«Tutto questo senza alterare le caratteristiche della maiolica artigianale».

Nanoparticles for the enhancement of "Made in Tuscany" ceramic products

The NanoVALCER project, funded under the POR FESR Toscana 2014-2020 program, has as its objective the realization of a new production process based on the introduction of nanomaterials inside the traditional majolica of Montelupo.

 

 

Through NanoVALCER we want to combine the traditional techniques for the production of artistic ceramics with the new techniques for the functionalization of the materials used in nanotechnology.

We want to get a new line by Ceramiche Virginia which maintains the Tuscan artistic excellence by improving the endurance of the final product.

We want to introduce nanomaterials on the majolica surface to reduce the porosity of traditional ceramic artefacts.
